Millions of people around the world suffer from the painful symptoms of arthritis like decreased mobility, inflammation, and severe pain. Arthritis pain relief is treatments that can free a person from the agony of arthritis and enable a person to perform a task of daily living. This relief differs from every person’s case and the type of arthritis. Although there are many kinds of arthritis, the famous three are osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

The use of NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) which is anti-inflammatory is the most popular in arthritis pain relief. It is a prescription kind of arthritis pain relief; examples of this kind of medication are Celebrex, Vioxx, and Bextra. However, side effects have been reported in using these drugs such as gastrointestinal problems and increased risk of stroke or heart attack. Another form is the pain relievers. These are over-the-counter drugs (without prescription) such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen. Unfortunately, it is not recommended for prolonged use due to its adverse effect in liver and kidney. In worst cases of arthritis, narcotics and steroids are being prescribed by doctors for arthritis. Narcotics are very powerful painkillers; these are codeine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and propoxyphene.

However, the medication is habit forming and can lead to addiction. Steroids are very powerful anti-inflammatory medicines. It reduces the activity of anti-bodies that causes the inflammation. The drug is administered in a high dose and being tapered, otherwise it will cause harmful effects in the body.

Natural arthritis pain relief is now getting popular nowadays due to its efficacy and having less to no side effects. These are acupunctures and herbal medicines. However, it is always advisable to consult a physician before trying any alternative arthritis pain relief. Having arthritis is sometimes inevitable, especially if the type is hereditary, but to live a normal life is a personal choice. Arthritis pain relief is now here to make us live the way we used to.
