Don’t immediately jump for the Panadol or Nurofen!

Although we don’t like pain, there is a good reason for it as it is the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong and to stop us from making a situation worse. It can be caused by anything from a dental cavity to a broken bone to a disease but once we determine where the pain is coming from, we can diagnose and address the health problem, thus relieving the pain. However, there are occasions where even though we know where the pain is coming from we have trouble stopping it.

People in this situation are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain’ which is a persistent feeling, the type that exists with back pain for example and unlike those of ‘acute pain’ which is intense but can be treated. Untold millions of people suffer from chronic pain and despite medicines best efforts there is no way currently to eliminate or prevent the cause of it. To make matters worse, chronic pain often remains after the reason for it has been treated and cured by which time it becomes a condition all on its own and it can worsen over time.

Unfortunately, prescription medication, which is the normal way to deal with the pain, can become ineffective over prolonged periods requiring higher doses and the chance of dangerous side effects increase; now people are turning to wards more natural pain relief methods. Although there are a number of natural pain relief systems in use, probably the most often used is acupuncture especially by those who unfortunately suffer with chronic pain. The Chinese use acupuncture to treat and cure many ailments by inserting long very thin needles into the skin.

Anyone that has used acupuncture will say how effective it is and those that use it are generally suffering from chronic pain like that caused by arthritis, back pain and migraines for example. Other people have started using herbal remedies as a natural pain relief treatment because there is little chance of any adverse side effects causing further problems. Herbal remedies as are often used for natural pain relief in combination and people suffering with arthritis find that Emu oil is very useful for their condition.

Although they take longer to build up sufficiently in the system to provide any pain relief the greatest benefit is that everything that enters the system is perfectly natural and will not harm it. If the truth be known then one way of even having to avoid natural pain relief is to change the way you life by eating healthier which means cutting back on processed foods but increasing your intake of fruit and vegetables. Many people cut back on the amount of sleep they have which is a mistake as sleep in the correct amounts is a time when the body repairs itself but exercise should not be forgotten either as even walking is a very healthy physical activity.
