Neck pain is a common medical condition that can be caused by different diseases and disorders. It can be because of an injury, stress, and some other health problems. People that are at high risk of neck pain are those that engage in extreme sports because they are likely to encounter an accident. If you feel this pain, it will surely disturb you from doing the tasks that you should do, so you would likely want to get a relief from it. But, before we talk about the reliefs that you can get, let us first talk about the symptoms that it can give you.

When you have neck pain, you will feel pains as if you have been stabbed with something on the neck. You will also feel dull and burning sensations. Your neck will also feel like it is weak that you may feel like you can?t move it, when you try to move it, it will worsen your pain. You will also feel numb and when you feel it, it?s cool and this is because of blocked and injured arteries and veins that can also make your neck to change color. There can also be swelling that will make your neck deformed.

What are the treatments that you can get for neck pain? Here are some of the ways that can help you address neck pain:

1. Rest: On the first or second day that you feel the pain, you may rest but don?t keep yourself immobilized. Rest from the activities where you use your neck too much, just do the light activities.

2. Ice: Get an ice pack and place it on your neck. Do this for 15-20 minutes every hour. Do not directly put the ice on your neck.

3. Elevate your neck: When you lie down on your bed, always use pillows so your neck will be above your heart to reduce the swelling.

4. Take pain relievers: You can get either some over the counter pain relievers or those that are given as prescription by the doctor.

5. Heat: You can apply a heating bath or take a hot shower when you have neck pain, but don?t do this on the first week because it can increase the inflammation and swelling.

6. Use topical pain relievers: You can also find topical pain relievers without the need to secure for prescription from the physician. These neck pain therapies are those pain relievers that are in cream, gel, and spray form.

7. Acupuncture: In this treatment, the pressure points of your body will be inserted with needles to release your body?s natural life energy that will help in naturally healing any illness that you might have.

8. Exercise: Light exercises for your neck can relieve the pain.

9. Physical therapy: Massaging can also give you a relief from the pain on your neck. Go to a physical therapist that can massage you.

10. Anesthetics: Injecting with cortisone or anesthetics can also cure the pain that you feel.

Some of these treatments that can give you neck joint pain relief can be done at home while some can be done in clinics of some experts. Before you get anything, it is best if you would go to your doctor and ask for some advice.
