Joint pain relief is one of the biggest challenges for patients who suffer from acute and chronic arthritis or associated joint conditions. Many pain medication prescribed for pain management have side effects that outweigh the benefits; some so severe that they have been withdrawn from the market all together. There are more than 6,000 white papers listed in the US National Institute of Health that tackles or discusses the implications of prescription pain management for arthritic conditions. Many of these articles provide alternative methods of alleviating pain through hundreds of herbs worldwide that have been discovered and clinically tested to relieve inflammation induced pain. Of course, most of these are not yet approved by the FDA and are yet made available for public consumption. There is however popular herbal remedies that are at easy reach for consumers such as turmeric and ginger, both of which belong to the same plant family.
Clinical research has shown that these herbs are very effective in minimizing the inflammatory response through antioxidants found within the leaf resin. These unique enzymes inhibit the inflammatory pathway which lessens the pain. Think of it as Mother Nature’s own way of helping us cope with body ailments. There are many other herbal preparations available in the market that stem from herbal plant research. More and more “plant derivative” over the counter pain management pills is being sold in drugstores and supermarkets that promise the same potency as doctor prescribed medication.
